Poor Javi can’t catch a break when it comes to naming the new creatures and plants encountered in Horizon! Shredder birds and slide-whistle birds are pretty great names, and tanglevine…

So here’s your challenge: Come up with a cool name for something and let the person after you decide what it is. Then, they get to come up with a new name and the next person gets to decide what THAT is.

I’ll go first: What is a sky thistle?

It can be anything you want! Describe what you think a sky thistle could be, and then come up with a good name for another creature or plant.

(Sky Thistle) I'm seeing it as a round, cactus-like spiky plant that is green. It's spikes are red and orange. If any thing moves within 5 feet, all it's spikes shoot out of it. It only is in high, sunny places, so it should be easy(ish) to spot!

Next: Furry Fury! (I want to see how similar it's to what I made of it!)

furry fury

This creature looks like a large badger about the same size as a large beach ball with thick dark green fur and a shaggy mane that is a lighter green on its neck. It has pointed furry ears and its snout and body are longer than that of a normal badger, with big sharp teeth and long claws. It has a poisonous bite, a long tail with a spike on the end, and is extremely fast, aggressive, and agile.

Winged Flash

I'm seeing it as a medium-sized raptor, dashing across the sky. It has a rather long neck, and its feathers are mostly brown. Its beak is red, and its eyes are usually green. It has red feathers on the end of its wings, and long tail feathers as well tipped with red feathers. It has three red feathers on its head, much like a peacock. It has long, deadly golden claws. It can probably fly at a very fast speed, as its name suggests.

Four-winged clover:

I see it as a mutant butterfly thats all green. It's wings r shaped like four-leaf clover petals. When the four-winged clover flaps its wings, it actually spreads a wave of bad luck. It has really good camoflague and it's really hard to see. Also it's super rare, just like a four-leaved clover. If you kill the four-winged clover, it gives you permanent bad luck. If you somehow get its antennae, theres a small amount of green liquid which gives you good luck for a day, kinda like the lucky potion in harry potter.

Whispering wringers are a predatory, movable moss that grows on boulders near water. It slithers over its prey and twists itself up to eat it, making a whispering sound as it wrings itself out.

Check out Shadow House and Horizon!

Changeling chickens are birds that have the same body and head shape as chickens but their feathers can harden into scales and they have five long tail feathers. Three are red and mostly used for navigating, but two are green. When threatened, the red ones harden into scales like the rest and the green ones turn hard, with the spine and the hairs on the sides sharpening. The transformed green ones are razor sharp can be launched as missiles, and secret an oil that makes your skin burn.  These take a while to grow back and they usually only launch one before escaping, but the sensation can last for hours unless the oil is quickly washed off. They have a long straight beak and can hover in place. Their feet are bigger with four toes and sharp flat talons. The fourth is opposable. They serve mostly as a prey animal but they can steal things, jab you, in instinctively target the eyes, and yank out your hair with their beaks and talons. They will usually attempt to flee but can be ferocious when cornered. They are good fliers but can't fly when their feathers have hardened into scales. They form colonies inside rings of tanglevine, which they create by clipping it to a harmless length with their beaks and then digging up and carrying it into place. They have a symbiotic relationship with the tanglevine in the rings-they donate some of their food to the tanglevine and it leaves them alone and lets them arrange it. As it grows, they weave it through the trees. The first few months are hard, since that is when they are still training it. Changeling chickens are red and green as camouflage, and mostly eat plants and small animals. The scale-like feathers and launchable tail missiles are the reason for their name.
